Investment Team members get access to exclusive resources and research with corporate partners, are able to compete in stock pitch competitions, and will have a chance to apply to a BIF Mentoring scheme due to start in early November. On top of that, analysts will work with the most talented individuals at the university and are set to learn unrivalled sector and technical expertise.

Prospective applicants should follow BIF socials for announced opportunities and use the form at the bottom of the form to make applications outside of hiring season. These will be checked throughout the year.

Role Description

  • Analysts

    Analysts are at the forefront of idea generation in the Bristol Investment Fund.

    Work with Portfolio Managers and the team to discuss the team’s positions, whether existing or proposed.

    Create stock pitches for competitions after conducting robust research. Impressive past performance and competence afford analysts the opportunity to assist PMs in more technically challenging tasks.

  • Portfolio Managers

    PMs are the fund’s educators and leaders. Responsible for guiding their analysts in research and challenging their ideas with improvement in mind.

    Attend market calls to give their sector insight, manage their holdings, and write reports using macro knowledge and commercial awareness.

  • Directors

    Directors use their skills to assist in the running of BIF. Responsible for their fields and directly accountable to the Chairman or the CIO, they play a key role in the team. Tasks are varied and depend function to function.

  • Traders

    Traders run off-shoot portfolios which are incompatible with our equity execution system as their domains are other asset classes (namely derivatives and cryptocurrency). They are responsible for bookkeeping, research, execution, and discussion in their respective asset classes. Their purpose is to demonstrate how the fund would hedge its holdings if we had the tools to do so.
